  • Hello:

First of all, thank you for sharing your pattern for a knitted beard hat. I plan on making one but I seem to of run into an issue when I’m reviewing the number of remaining stitches.

In your instruction you mention that you would have 41 stitches At end of row 12. Then you begin decreasing the stitches in row 13-24. Can you please review my calculations and tell me where I am going astray.
Row 13-16 1 stitch is being decreased per row which equals a total of 3 stitches. =. 38st

Row 17-20 2 stitches are being decreased per row which equals a total of

    • Sorry, my message was sent before I finished it.

On row 17-20 I get a total of 6 stitches being decreased leaving 32 stitches.

Row 21-24 Require a decrease of 1 stitch per row for a total of 3 stitches, leaving you with 29 stitches.

Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?

      Thanks,
      Jo-Ann

      • Hi Jo-Ann,

Glad you like the pattern! So here’s what I think needs to be corrected:

Rows 13-16: You should K2tog, knit rest of the row for FOUR rows. Decreasing 4 stitches. When complete you should have 37 stitches.

Rows 17-20: You should K2tog, K2tog, knit rest of the row for FOUR rows. Decreasing 8 stitches. When complete you should have 29 stitches.

Rows 21-24: You should K2tog, knit rest of the row for FOUR rows. Decreasing 4 stitches. When complete you should have 25 stitches.

I’m a bit of a novice knitter, so I apologize if my pattern is a little confusing. I hope this helps you out though – let me know if you have any other questions!
